Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont (26) has been loaned out to Greek side Panathinaikos, both sides have announced. The 26-year-old goalie, who was once called up by France manager Didier Deschamps, will reunite in Athens with former Nantes midfielder and captain Pedro Chirivella. The deal is reportedly a straight loan, with no option to buy. Lafont remains tied with Nantes over a contract set to expire in 2027.

Lafont established himself as Nantes’ first-choice goalkeeper and went on to make 129 appearances for the club, before falling out of favour under former head coach Antoine KombouarĂ© last season. His final appearance for Nantes came in November 2024 in a 2-0 loss to Le Havre AC. KombouarĂ© then relied on Patrik Carlgren before Anthony Lopes joined from Lyon as the established No. 1.
