Official: Napoli confirm successful Buongiorno surgery and Lucca injury | OneFootball

Napoli announced Alessandro Buongiorno underwent surgery today for a knee injury and should be out for at least three months, while Lorenzo Lucca has an ankle ligament sprain.

The Partenopei had one injury crisis after another last season, and this summer seems to be starting in a similar vein.

Buongiorno saw a specialist who confirmed he required surgery to repair the root of the medial meniscus in his right knee.

That operation was performed today at the Jean Mermoz private hospital in Lyon, and surgeons assure it was a complete success.

Following a period of immobilization, the Napoli defender can begin the rehabilitation process.

He is expected to be out of action for two to three months.

Meanwhile, striker Lucca limped off during yesterday’s pre-season friendly defeat to Arezzo.

A statement from the club confirms he has been diagnosed with a low-grade strain of the anterior talofibular ligament in his ankle.

Sky Sport Italia report he should be out for a couple of weeks.

He spent the last six months on loan at Nottingham Forest.
