Vincenzo Italiano has reached an agreement to terminate his contract with Bologna by mutual consent, the club confirmed.

Italiano has left Bologna by mutual consent after two seasons, the Rossoblu confirmed in a statement on Thursday.

The Rossoblu said they were informed by Italiano that he considered his project at the club over, following excellent results over the last two seasons.

Italiano was hired by Bologna in 2024 and led the team to winning the Coppa Italia in the 2024-25 campaign.

Bologna thanked Italiano for his “passion and commitment” shown in the last two seasons, insisting that the 48-year-old made “history” at the club with last season’s Coppa Italia win.

Italiano has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the Napoli job alongside Massimiliano Allegri.

The latter was fired by Milan earlier this week after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Bologna finished the 2025-26 Serie A campaign in 8th, outside a European spot.
