The NUFC Head Coach speaking ahead of this match at St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe hoping to see his team follow up the cup win over Chelsea, with a Premier League victory against Arsenal.

Official Newcastle United injury update – Availability for the Arsenal match (and beyond):

The expectation of course is that the likes of Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett will remain unavailable for this Arsenal match.

Eddie Howe this morning also confirming that Callum Wilson won’t be involved, plus saying that it makes sense to give him until after the November international break to try and get him right. This will mean giving the number nine another 24 days before home to West Ham, thus missing Forest away next weekend as well.

Eddie Howe on squad rotation:

“It was good to see so many players performing well, it was good to be able to rotate some of the squad [for the Chelsea cup match] and see the strength in depth we have.

“We will pick a team for Saturday according to physical wellbeing and our opponent.”

Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak:

“They both feel OK, we will assess how they feel today, 48 hours after the game.

“They have both had niggling injuries so we’ll make a decision today.

“We need to make sure whoever enters the pitch against Arsenal is in the best physical condition.”

Eddie Howe has said it will be tough to ask players to start three matches over a six day stretch, Chelsea on Sunday and Wednesday with now Arsenal on Saturday.

Five players started both Chelsea matches – Lewis Hall, Fabian Schar, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Alexander Isak.
