An official Newcastle United injury update on Friday.
Eddie Howe talking to journalists.
Eddie Howe hoping to see the team make it eight wins from ten, the only exceptions the defeat at Villa and draw at Brighton.
With only three Premier League games left for each team to play, every result so important now, none more so than this Newcastle v Chelsea game, as these matches will dictate whether or not United will be in the Champions League next season.

Pointers as to availability for this Chelsea match and beyond.
Official Newcastle United injury update from Eddie Howe – 9 May 2025:
Eddie Howe on Joelinton:
Sky Sports report that Joelinton returned to the Newcastle training ground on Thursday following treatment, with Eddie Howe saying this Friday morning:
“He [Joelinton] looked good.
“He returned to Brazil briefly and then went to Barcelona for another injection.
“Whether we see him again this season I don’t know.”
Eddie Howe on Sven Botman:
After having got on the pitch as a sub against both Ipswich and Brighton in the last two matches, Eddie Howe this morning stating that the Dutch defender is “close” to starting.
Eddie Howe on Fabian Schar:
The Head Coach saying that the Swiss defender has been “doing pretty good” after worries when he limped off towards the end of the Brighton match.
Eddie Howe on Kieran Trippier:
Very similar positive comments from Eddie Howe on the right-back who was also subbed off late on last weekend.
Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon:
Having previously said that Anthony Gordon still hadn’t got back to full fitness and recovery after his injury picked up when with England, this Eddie Howe stating it has been a “good week” for the winger.
So as things stand, we have Matt Targett, Lewis Hall and Jamaal Lascelles definitely missing the Chelsea match and indeed the rest of the season surely.
However, whilst previously it looked pretty certain that Joelinton had been ruled out as well for all three remaining matches, the fact he is now back at the training ground and has had this treatment/injection…I think quite clearly the plan is that if needed, the Brazilian could well play a part in these last couple of weeks of the season.
