With the Finalissima 2026 getting cancelled, the Spanish national team will be playing two friendles against Serbia and Egypt in the upcoming international break later this month.
And La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente has announced the list of players who will be called up to the squad. And, only one player from Real Madrid has made the cut.
Indeed, defender Dean Huijsen is the only Los Blancos player called up by the Spanish national team manager for the games against Serbia and Egypt.
The young centre-back has been inconsistent in recent months but has shown signs of resurgence in the past few matches, enough to convince De la Fuente to keep backing him.
However, there is no space in the team for captain Dani Carvajal, who has recovered from his injury problems earlier this year but has barely seen regular action on the field.
Fellow defender Raul Asencio has been overlooked by the national team head coach.
Meanwhile, the left-back pair of Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia also do not feature, which was expected considering De la Fuente has his preferred options in the position locked already.
Young striker Gonzalo Garcia, who has been making decent strides this season, has not been included, as he has been called up by the U-21 national team.
The currently-injured Dani Ceballos is not in the national team’s plans. Breakthrough prospect Thiago Pitarch has earned a call-up with the U-19 squad.
