Olympique de Marseille have confirmed that Pablo Longoria will leave his role as president at the club after six years, following an agreement with McCourt Global on the terms of his departure. Longoria joined in 2020 as sporting director before being promoted to president in 2021 following the departure of Jacques-Henri Eyraud. “OM would like to salute the commitment, passion and work carried out by Pablo Longoria over the past six years in the service of the club,” the statement read. The club also extended its most sincere wishes for success in the next stage of his career.
In his own message, Longoria thanked Olympique de Marseille for the trust placed in him throughout his tenure, while expressing deep gratitude to staff, players and supporters who were part of the journey.
“Pablo Longoria thanks Olympique de Marseille for the confidence shown in him during these six seasons and expresses his deep gratitude to all employees, players and supporters who accompanied this adventure,” the statement added.Longoria departed the club after a dramatic turnaround saw his role reduced to institutional duties by owner Frank McCourt in the crisis following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi in February. The Spaniard had been negotiating his own departure with McCourt for the last month, reportedly not happy with his new and reduced role at the club.
