Paris Saint-Germain have officially announced the signing of João Neves (19) from SL Benfica on a contract running until 2029. It has been widely reported ahead of the move that the midfielder would be arriving for a €70 million fee with bonuses included to help bolster Luís Enrique’s midfield.
Adding to the middle of the park had been a priority for the French champions, and the club appear to have secured one of their key targets this summer for far less than his reported release clause of €120 million.
In becoming the second signing of the window for PSG, Neves adds to a growing Portuguese contingent at the club joining his compatriots and international teammates Vitinha (24), Danilo Pereira (32), Nuno Mendes (22), and Gonçalo Ramos (23).
Neves spoke about his joy in joining Les Parisiens in the press release announcing his signing, with the midfielder stating, “It is a great pride for me to join Paris Saint-Germain, a very ambitious club. I will give everything to help my teammates, grow in this fantastic Club and win many titles.”
