Official: Racing Santander secure deal for Athletic Club star | OneFootball

Racing Santander have this week announced a transfer agreement with La Liga rivals Athletic Club. This comes amid confirmation of Julen Agirrezabala putting pen to paper on terms with the newly-promoted outfit.

Goalkeeper Agirrezabala for his part spent the duration of the 2025/26 campaign plying his trade out on loan away from parent club Athletic.

After linking up with Valencia, the 25-year-old went on to endure something of a hit-and-miss time of things at Mestalla, amid competition from the more established Stole Dimitrievski.

All told, Agirrezabala went on to rack up appearances in just shy of half of Los Che’s league fixtures.

But as alluded to above, along the way, the Spaniard evidently did enough to convince those in a position of power at Racing Santander of his talents.

This comes amid confirmation that the Racinguistas have made the call to bring Agirrezabala to Cantabria on a long-term contract. As per a statement across the club’s official website and social media platforms:

‘Goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala has joined Racing Santander after reaching an agreement for his transfer from Athletic Club. The goalkeeper, who has played 48 matches in La Liga and 13 in the Europa League, has signed a contract that will keep him with the green-and-white club until June 30, 2031.’
