La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano have this week secured fresh reinforcements to the club’s attacking ranks.
The player to have put pen to paper on terms in Spain’s capital? Sergi Guardiola.
The name of frontman Guardiola is of course one which will be altogether familiar to those of a Rayo Vallecano persuasion.
This comes with the now-33-year-old having enjoyed a productive loan stint in Vallecas during the 2021/22 campaign.
Guardiola had since gone on to link up with Cádiz, albeit with the club’s relegation to La Liga 2 having coincided with the expiration of the Spaniard’s contract this summer.
Still available as a free agent, the aforementioned Rayo, in turn, recently opened negotiations with Guardiola over a potential reunion.
And, as alluded to above, such discussions have this week borne fruit.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘Official | Sergi Guardiola, new Rayo Vallecano player. The forward signs for the current season.’
