La Liga outfit Real Betis have this evening announced that a key member of the club’s defensive ranks has agreed to extend his stay with the club.
The player in question? Germán Pezzella.
Stopper Pezzella, for his part, secured a return to the Estadio Benito Villamarín back in 2021, after a four-year stint in Italy with Fiorentina.
And, since, he has gone on to play a central role for Betis.
The season to date has seen the now-32-year-old feature from the off in all but one of the Verdiblancos’ 30 fixtures between La Liga and the Europa League.
With his contract at the club having been inching towards conclusion, it therefore came as little surprise to hear of negotiations being kicked into gear by the Betis brass, over the terms of a renewal.
And, as alluded to above, on Monday, such discussions have officially borne fruit.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘Real Betis Balompié and Germán Pezzella have reached an agreement to extend the contract of the Argentine player. In this way, the world champion is linked to the Green & White Club until 2026.’
