La Liga outfit Real Betis have on Tuesday announced a departure from the club’s first-team setup.
This comes amid confirmation that youngster Assane Diao has made the move to Italy on a permanent basis, linking up with Serie A outfit Como.
The name of attacker Diao had of course dominated the headlines in Seville over the course of the last week.
As much came after word surfaced in the media that, amid efforts to raise funds for reinforcements of their own, the Real Betis star were giving consideration to parting with highly-regarded academy product Diao.
Upon Cesc Fàbregas’ Como coming to the table with an offer worth a considerable €12 million, the Verdiblancos, in turn, were left with a decision to make.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, the result of as much has been confirmed.
As per a statement across Real Betis’ website and social media platforms:
‘Real Betis Balompié and Italy’s Como 1907 have reached an agreement for the transfer of Assane Diao. The club thanks him for his services and wishes him the best of luck in his future professional endeavours.’
