Just when he had established himself as a regular starter, Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has been sidelined with a leg injury, the club has officially confirmed.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Dani Ceballos by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle with tendon involvement in his left leg. Pending evolution,” the club statement read.

The injury happened during last night’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Real Sociedad away at Reale Arena.

Having started on the night, Ceballos played almost the entirety of the game only to be withdrawn late on due to the injury.

Initial signs did not look good and journalist Arancha Rodriguez now reports that the Spanish international will be out of action for the next two months.

This comes as a huge blow for both Ceballos and Real Madrid. The midfielder was going through his best phase as a Los Blancos player while his influence had been a key element in Ancelotti’s team’s recent good streak of results.

Wishing Dani a speedy recovery!
