After being released by the Spanish national team due to muscle fatigue, Dean Huijsen returned to Real Madrid facilities and underwent tests earlier today.

Following the tests, the Merengues have now confirmed that the 20-year-old centre-back has indeed suffered a muscle injury in his left leg.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Dean Huijsen, assessed by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the soleus muscle of his left leg,” the statement read.

Huijsen was the only Real Madrid player called up to the Spain squad for their upcoming matches against Georgia and Bulgaria.

However, owing to the muscle problem, he did not participate in any of the training sessions and was finally released by the national team this morning after tests were conducted.

Huijsen to miss Getafe clash

Building on the update, journalist Sergio Quirante reports that Real Madrid are expecting Huijsen to be out for a period of 12-15 days at the most.

As such, the centre-back, a permanent fixture in the lineup for Xabi Alonso, is now expected to miss the La Liga clash against Getafe on 19 October, right after the international break.

But, Huijsen is expected to be available when Real Madrid face Juventus in the UEFA Champions League on 22 October and later against Barcelona in La Liga on 26 October.
