Official: Real Madrid ends the Super League project
In an official statement this Wednesday, Real Madrid announced that it has ended its involvement in the Super League project.
After launching the European Super League project five years ago alongside eleven other clubs, Real Madrid was the last team still committed to the initiative. But this Wednesday, Los Blancos announced their withdrawal after reaching an agreement with UEFA.“UEFA, the European Football Clubs (EFC), and Real Madrid C. F. have reached an agreement for the good of European club football. After months of discussions held in the interest of European football, UEFA, the European Football Clubs (EFC), and Real Madrid C. F. announce that they have reached a preliminary agreement in the interest of European football, respecting the principle of sporting merit and focusing on the long-term sustainability of clubs and improving the fan experience through the use of technology. This preliminary agreement will also enable them to resolve their legal disputes related to the European Super League once a definitive agreement has been implemented.”, reads the statement released by Real Madrid.
