Official: Real Madrid learn referee for Marseille clash, with bad recent memories | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid have this weekend been made aware of the identity of the referee for their upcoming showdown with Olympique Marseille.

And the news will no doubt spark less-than-positive memories on the part of all of a Blancos persuasion.

This comes with the fixture set to be overseen by Irfan Peljto.

Bosnian referee Peljto most recently oversaw an outing featuring Real Madrid back in April.

This came in the form of Los Blancos’ Champions League quarter-final first leg meeting with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

When all was said and done at The Emirates that night, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops saw their continental campaign all but ended, by way of a 3-0 defeat.

Safe to say, then, that new boss Xabi Alonso and his squad will no doubt have sights on an altogether more positive result under Peljto’s watch this time round.

Real Madrid will play host to Marseille this coming Tuesday, at the Santiago Bernabéu.
