Having recovered from their derby defeat to Atletico, Real Madrid have maintained their lead at the top of the La Liga standings.
The Merengues have played and won two league games so far in October, having beaten Villarreal 3-1 in the first week before securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Getafe last Sunday.
Given their continued good form, Real Madrid find themselves being strongly represented in the La Liga award nominations for the month of October.
Indeed, Kylian Mbappe is once again in the running for the La Liga Player of the Month after continuing his excellent start to the season.
The French superstar has scored two goals and assisted one more in two league games this month, enough to secure him a place in the nominees, alongside Barcelona’s Pedri, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, Antony of Real Betis, and Jorge de Frutos of Rayo Vallecano.
Meanwhile, Arda Guler is also in the running for a prize as he has been nominated for the La Liga Best U23 Player of the Month for October.
The Turkish international has continued to grow in influence for Madrid and provided the assist for Mbappe’s goal against Getafe, with their partnership starting to flourish.
Finally, Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is nominated for the La Liga Coach of the Month prize for October as well.
Since the derby defeat, the Basque tactician has managed to get Los Blancos back on track, with two solid wins over Villarreal and Getafe in La Liga.
Alonso is up against Rayo Vallecano manager Inigo Perez and Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini for the award.
