Rennes have tonight announced the signing of French attacking midfielder Ludovic Blas from Nantes, with the 25-year-old putting pen to paper on a four-year contract.
The former French youth international leaves Nantes after four seasons, and in the last two seasons had emerged as Les Canaris‘ key player. The move, which comes a year before the end of his previous contract, is expected to bring Nantes €15m according to France Bleu, although the fee is unlikely to assuage the fans’ indignation at the sale.
He notably scored the winner in the 2022 Coupe de France final, repeating the feat in this past season’s semi-finals against Lyon, on top of his goal against Juventus in the Europa League. Overall, he will have found the net 45 times in all competitions for the club, for a ratio of roughly one goal every three games.
Blas is expected to be the first of two midfield signings from regional rivals that the Bretons will make, with Enzo Le Fée’s move from Lorient also imminent.
