Roma have officially announced the signing of Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers on a season-long loan deal from Serie A rivals Milan.
It is a straight loan deal, without an option to buy, so Saelemaekers will remain a Roma player until June 30, 2025.
Roma and Milan had been negotiating for a swap-deal involving former England international Tammy Abraham, but they were unable to come to an agreement in time and decided to move forward with loan deals instead. Abraham is also expected to be announced by Milan imminently.
Roma have confirmed that Saelemaekers will wear the no.56 shirt during his time at the Stadio Olimpico.
He also becomes the fourth ever Belgian player to represent the club after Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Vermaelen and Radja Nainggolan.
It will be the second season in a row spent on loan away from San Siro for Saelemaekers, who played for Bologna under Thiago Motta last season, resulting in a Champions League place by the end of the campaign.
