Santiago Giménez has joined FC Porto on loan from AC Milan, the club said in a statement.

The deal is a cost-free loan with an option to buy for 18 million euros plus up to 2 million in bonuses, which could become an obligation if certain objectives are met. If the clause is activated, Milan will retain 10% of any future sale.

Porto will assume responsibility for the solidarity mechanism owed to third parties, and the transfer involved no intermediaries.

Talks were complex, with progress and setbacks, but the agreement was finalised over the weekend, aided by the player’s desire to represent Porto.

Giménez, 25, will wear the number 29 shirt.
