Tunisian sensation Louey Ben Farhat joined SC Freiburg from 2. Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC. The 20-year-old was previously linked with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt, but last season’s Europa League finalists finally won the race.
However, he’ll spend the remainder of the season with Karlsruhe as Freiburg agreed on a loan deal. The attacker already featured in the last two matchdays of the 2. Bundesliga campaign after missing the World Cup for a bizarre reason.
According to Transfermarkt, Freiburg parted ways with €7.5 million to add one of 2. Bundesliga’s highly-rated youngsters. Ben Farhat joined KSC from Stuttgarter Kickers at the age of 17, and he has already produced nine goals and three assists in 36 appearances.
“We’re delighted to have signed such an exciting young player in Louey. He’s technically very gifted, reads space well and can pose a goal threat himself, while also having the ability to find his teammates in dangerous positions,” said Freiburg’s sporting director Klemens Hartenbach before highlighting the need to send him back on loan.
“The loan back to KSC is the ideal solution. Louey will be able to continue playing regularly at a high level there, while we’ll also be in close contact with him from the outset. We’re looking forward to working closely with Louey and KSC.”
“It’s been a long time coming, so I’m delighted to have finalised everything with Freiburg today. Karlsruhe have stayed in touch throughout, and we’ve had some very detailed discussions recently about the next steps in my development. My full focus now is on KSC. I want to give everything I can to help the team be successful and make sure I’m as well prepared as possible. Then I’ll be looking forward to the next big challenge at SC Freiburg.” said Ben Farhat after putting pen to paper on a deal until 2029.
