La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Tuesday announced the latest installation on the club’s bench.
The tactician chosen to lead the Nervionenses forward into a new and hopefully prosperous new era? Luis García Plaza.
Sevilla of course made official the dismissal of previous headmaster Matías Almeyda early this week.
After a run of just one win from eight, leaving the Andalusian outfit in a lowly 15th in the La Liga table, Argentine Almeyda was sent on his way with immediate effect.
And 24 hours on, the aforementioned García Plaza has stepped in in place of the 52-year-old.
As per a statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms on Tuesday:
‘Sevilla FC and Luis García Plaza have reached an agreement for the Madrid-born coach (December 1, 1972) to become the first-team manager until June 30, 2027.’
García Plaza has for his part previously overseen 229 La Liga fixtures from the sideline, across stints with the likes of RCD Mallorca and Deportivo Alavés.
