VfB Stuttgart have extended the contract of forward Silas Katompa Mvumpa.
The 24-year-old striker is now contracted with the club until June 2026. Before the confirmation of the contract renewal, Mvumpa’s existing seal was due to expire in 2024 and there were rumours of a possible sale this summer.
The Congolese arrived in Stuttgart back in 2019 when he moved from FC Paris for €8m. However, due to injury, the forward missed the majority of last season. This campaign, Katompa has scored three goals and assisted twice in 14 matches.
Upon the announcement, the forward said: “I would like to thank those responsible at VfB for their trust. I feel very comfortable here. The club offers me a very good environment to continue to improve. I want to be successful with VfB and its great fans.”
Stuttgart are currently 16th in the Bundesliga table and in need of points should they avoid relegation. The club’s first game of 2023 is on January 23rd when they host mid-table Mainz 05. In their first 15 games, Stuttgart have scored 18 goals, one of the league’s lowest tally apart from the bottom two. With his future settled,
