Napoli have released a formal statement confirming that Antonio Conte is no longer head coach of the club having left his position by mutual consent one year ahead of schedule.
It had been widely reported that Conte was expected to leave Napoli after two seasons in charge. The coach himself bid his farewells to supporters on social media on Wednesday, thanking them for the role they played during the last ‘two winning years’.
Napoli have now officially confirmed that Conte is no longer head coach, having left his position by mutual consent. The five-time Scudetto winner had been under contract for another season, until the end of the 2026-27 campaign, but as is typically the case with Conte, he has decided to call it a day after two years.
“SSC Napoli announces that it has terminated the professional relationship with coach Antonio Conte and his staff by mutual consent, in advance of the natural contract deadline,” read a statement on Thursday.
“At the helm of the Azzurri for two seasons, Conte led Napoli to the fourth Scudetto on May 23, 2026, and to the Supercoppa Italiana victory on December 22.

“Our thanks go to the coach and his staff for the excellent work they have done, as well as our best wishes for the future and for the next professional challenges they decide to take on. Grazie, Mister.”
Conte won the Serie A title during his first season in charge of Napoli, which means that he is the only coach to have won the Italian top flight title with three different clubs, having also claimed the Scudetto with Juventus and Inter.
Despite a poor run in the Champions League and a slightly underwhelming defence of their Serie A title in 2025-26, but between his stints with Napoli, Inter and Juventus, Conte has never finished lower than second place.
