Chelsea have officially announced the departure of Tiémoué Bakayoko (28), who has been loaned out for the past five seasons.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea from AS Monaco back in the summer of 2017 for a €40m fee, however, the Frenchman never managed to nail down a starting spot at Stamford Bridge and hasn’t even played for the club since May 2018. Instead, he was loaned out across Europe during his six years at the club.
He was initially loaned out to AC Milan, before further loans with Monaco, Napoli, and AC Milan again, this time for a two-year stint at the San Siro. No team opted to make the deal permanent. Bakayoko, who has one France cap, had a contract that ran until the summer of 2024, but Chelsea decided to end their collaboration early.
The details of Bakayoko’s release have not yet been revealed, but the 28-year-old now has the task of trying to find a new club.
