Torino have confirmed that they have parted company with sporting director Davide Vagnati with immediate effect, and that he has already been replaced by Gianluca Petrachi, who returns to the club after six years.

Vagnati had served as a Torino director since the spring of 2020 and has seen the team finish in 17th, 10th, 10th again, ninth and 11th in the seasons since then.

Things aren’t looking quite as promising for the Granata in 2025-26, though, currently sitting in 16th on 14 points after 14 matches. They are just four points off the drop zone as things stand.

The lack of form under Marco Baroni has cost Vagnati his job, as Torino confirmed in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

“Torino FC announces the immediate dismissal of Davide Vagnati from his role as sporting director and head of the technical side of the club,” it read.

“Torino FC thanks Vagnati for the work he carried out, and for the commitment he showed over these last five years, and wishes him all the best in the continuation of his career.”

Torino have also confirmed that Petrachi, who had previously worked for the club for nine years, will step in to replace Vagnati.

“The technical/sporting area has once again been entrusted to Gianluca Petrachi, former sporting director of Torino with a tenure from 2010 to 2019. The whole club warmly welcomes back Gianluca Petrachi: Forza Toro sempre.”

Since leaving Torino in 2019, Petrachi has had a short, one-year spell working with Roma in 2019-20, and spent the 2024-25 season with Salernitana.
