As of today, VfB Stuttgart have confirmed the signing of Ameen Al-Dakhil from Burnley.
It had previously been reported that the Swabians were looking to bolster their defensive options before the transfer window ended, and Al-Dakhil was one of the club’s preferred options.
However, now a deal has been completed with the centre-back signing a four-year contract for Die Roten.
As well as this, it is understood that Stuttgart will pay Burnley €7 million, with a potential €2 million more in future add-ons.
Speaking upon Al-Dakhil’s arrival, Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth remarked:
“Ameen has very good prerequisites to become an important factor in our defence. He moved to England via the Belgian Pro League and demonstrated his qualities there in the Premier League. The calls to the Belgian national team also speak volumes. Despite his relatively young age, Ameen has already gained a lot of experience, but at the same time, he has the potential to develop further. We are very happy to have tied a player of such quality to VfB for the long term.”
The Belgian international also commented about his move to the MHP Arena:
“I am very happy to be here and to become part of the VfB family. I want to experience the atmosphere in the stadium and play in front of these special fans. I am looking forward to the great challenge of playing in the Bundesliga.”
Last season, Al-Dakhil only featured 17 times for Burnley as they were relegated from the Premier League to the Championship due to suffering a muscle injury.
Regardless, it is believed that the 22-year-old is close to returning to full fitness and will, therefore, soon join up with his new teammates in training.
