VfL Bochum have signed attacking midfielder Lukas Daschner from 2. Bundesliga side St. Pauli, the club has confirmed.
The former MSV Duisburg and St. Pauli man will make the step up to the Bundesliga on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old has played a crucial role for St. Pauli over the past few seasons. Last term, Daschner played every competitive game for the Pauli, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
Daschner has ample experience in the 2. Bundesliga as well as the 3. Liga despite only being 24 years of age. The attacking midfielder will bring more cover into the Bochum side as they look to build on just about escaping relegation this season.
Bochum technical director Marc Lettau is delighted to have Daschner in the ranks: “Lukas Daschner is a highly talented offensive player who has continuously developed over the past few years and has impressively demonstrated his qualities in the past season. He’s a team player who has everything he needs to assert himself at VfL and in the Bundesliga.”
The Duisburg native knows the region well and is looking forward to representing the Bundesliga on the highest stage in Germany: “First of all, I would like to say a big thank you for the trust that VfL has placed in me,” says Lukas Daschner. “I’m happy to be able to play for Bochum. Of course, I’m also looking forward to the stadium, the fans and the Bundesliga. As a young footballer, the big goal is to one day appear in the Bundesliga. I can hardly wait and would like to do my part to ensure a successful future for VfL.”
