RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara’s reported on transfer to RC Lens has been officially confirmed. Haidara’s long-time Bundesliga outfit will receive a modest transfer fee of €3m for the Malian international. Haidara – who also played for RB Salzburg and FC Liefering – departs “RB System Football” for the very first time in his career with the move to the French league leaders. He spent eight seasons playing for the German Red Bulls.

Haidara didn’t log a single minute of action for Leipzig this season, but did still earn a call up to the Malian national team for the current ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. The 27-year-old made a brief appearance as a substitute during Mali’s opening round 1-1 group stage draw with Zambia. Haidara departs German football having made 222 competitive appearances for his now former German club.
