Werder Bremen have complied with French midfielder Skelly Alvero’s transfer request. The 23-year-old will return his native France on a six-month loan deal with SC Amiens. Alvero made just two substitute appearances with Werder this year and entered the January transfer window as a dead-weight player in the SVW squad. The exceptionally tall midfield talent remains under contract with his Bundesliga outfit until 2028.

The Hanseaten are nevertheless not quite prepared to give up on the former Lyon man just yet. Even though Alvero has only made 20 Bundesliga appearances over the course of the last three seasons, the loan deal does not contain a purchase option. Bremen purchased Alvero from Lyon permanently for €4.75m after initially shelling out a €250,000 loan fee for him.

Statement on Skelly Alvero’s departure

It’s important for Skelly to get more playing time,SVW sporting director Peter Niemeyer noted in a club statement. “That hasn’t been the case for him with us recently. That’s why we’re pleased to have found this solution. We’re confident his minutes will increase significantly in Amiens and that he’ll be able to gain plenty of match practice.
