Fiorentina are reportedly interested in making a move for Angelo Ogbonna, whose nine-year spell with West Ham came to an end this month.
The 36-year-old Italian centre back joined the Hammers from Juventus for around €11m back in July 2015 and went on to become one of their most reliable players during his nine years in the defence, appearing in 249 matches across all competitions.
Ogbonna is currently a free agent after his contract with West Ham expired at the start of this month and is open to returning to Serie A. Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna have been keeping an eye on him for the last few weeks, but now new suitors have emerged.
Page 23 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Fiorentina have now decided to join the race for Ogbonna with Bologna, keen to add the experienced defender to Raffaele Palladino’s squad following the sale of Nikola Milenkovic to Fiorentina.
Both clubs will now look to convince the former West Ham centre back to accept a squad role, appreciating his experience and leadership skills.
