OGC Nice are mired in an injury crisis up front. Terem Moffi suffered an ACL injury in preseason and will therefore miss the majority of the campaign. Jeremie Boga also suffered an injury in preseason but is now nearing a return. Sofiane Diop is a long-term absentee, and he is now joined on the sidelines by Gaëtan Laborde, who fractured his metatarsal in training on Friday and who could be absent for around two to three months.
It therefore comes as no surprise that Nice are considering dipping into the market to sign another striker. However, the club’s limited financial means are a large constraint. As reported by RMC Sport and confirmed by Get French Football News, former Lille OSC forward and free agent Yusuf Yazici is an option being considered, as is former Aiglon Neal Maupay, however, it is thought that any move for the Everton man is financially impossible for Nice.
According to L’Équipe, two other free agents are being considered: Wissam Ben Yedder and Memphis Depay. Once again, however, wage demands will likely prove to be a significant obstacle. Depay is currently training in Monaco, just a matter of kilometres from Nice, however, for now, a move for the former Atletico Madrid man seems unlikely.
