OGC Nice’s poor start to the season continued with a 2-1 loss against Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Thursday night. It means that Franck Haise’s side remain winless in this season’s UEFA Europa League campaign.
Nice went the duration of last season’s Europa League campaign without registering a win, dropping out during the league phase. They remain in search of their first win this campaign. After a 2-1 defeat to AS Roma last time out, they lost by the same scoreline against Fenerbahce.
Kerem Akturkoglu got the home side’s first goal in just the third minute, making the most of swathes of space to tuck past Yehvann Diouf, who got a good hand to the effort but failed to turn it around the corner. There was nothing that he could have done with Akturkoglu’s second goal 20 minutes later, which took a big deflection on its way past him.
Kevin Carlos got his first goal from Le Gym from the spot after Milan Skriniar handled inside his own box to halve the deficit before the break, however, Nice failed to level the scores. It means that the Ligue 1 side have just two wins in 10 games in all competitions this season.
