OGC Nice talks to sign Elye Wahi at a dead end?

OGC Nice are looking to add to their attacking department during the January transfer window. Kevin Carlos has struggled since joining over the summer, whilst Terem Moffi has not played since the fan attack back at the end of November. On sick leave, he could leave during the January transfer window.

Elye Wahi has emerged as a key target for Le Gym, with Foot Mercato reporting that the former Olympique de Marseille forward had agreed to make the move to the Allianz Riviera. Wahi is a player that Nice manager Franck Haise knows well from his time at RC Lens, and with the Frenchman struggling for game time at Eintracht Frankfurt, he was open to a fresh challenge.

Haise and sporting director Florian Maurice had hoped to bring the player in during the January transfer window, before the return of Ligue 1 football at the start of January, and whilst it is a deal that is financially doable, Nice-Matin understands that the deal – for now – is at a dead end. The reason? The player’s personality, which is causing some internal divisions at OGCN, meaning that there is not unanimty internally and discussions have therefore been put on hold.
