OGC Nice will dedicate Saturday’s home match against Le Mans to remembrance, marking the 10th anniversary of the Promenade des Anglais attack that killed 86 people and injured 458, the club said in a statement. Kick-off is at 20:45.
It is their first Ligue 1 home fixture with supporters this season, after the 22 August meeting with Lorient ended 0-0 behind closed doors.
A pre-match ceremony will take place on the pitch in coordination with victims’ associations. Families and loved ones of victims, along with first responders from the night of 14 July 2016, have been invited.
Nice will wear their third kit featuring 86 stars in tribute. During the warm-up, both teams will wear T-shirts bearing a symbolic heart formed from the names of the 86 victims.
Match-worn shirts and T-shirts will be auctioned, with proceeds directed to victims’ associations. The club will also stage tributes before every home game this season, with families again invited.
At the Allianz Riviera, the heart appears on the giant screens in the 86th minute and supporters light their phone torches, a practice in place since 2016.
