According to a report from The Evening Standard, OGC Nice’s Melvin Bard (23) is a target for Manchester United this summer.
Despite Nice’s repeated attempts to increase quality and competition at left-back, Bard continues to excel. Last season, Joe Bryan was brought in from Fulham on loan. The Englishman failed to displace Bard and Romain Perraud, who joined Le Gym on loan from Southampton, has also failed to do so.
Bard has therefore featured prominently, featuring on 28 occasions for Nice this season, registering two assists in this time. It has been the most accomplished season of Bard’s career as a professional and with just two years remaining on his deal at the Allianz Riviera, a move could be on the cards at the end of the season.
Given frequent injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United, who share the same INEOS owners, are in the market for a left-back and have included the attack-minded Bard on their shortlist. The Evening Standard state that Bard’s move to Old Trafford “could benefit” both INEOS-affiliated clubs.
