Over the course of the past two seasons, Melvin Bard (24) has gone from strength to strength at OGC Nice. Nice-Matin understands that he could be set for a move away from the Ligue 1 club this summer.
Bard played 32 times for Le Gym this season in all competitions, playing LB, LCB, and LWB. He has earned the praise of manager Franck Haise, who is a fan of his versatility. “He has all the qualities to play centre-back in a three-man defence. You can have aerial players around him to make up for [his lack of height]. He is not the prototype of a centre-back, but he has what I want,” said Haise of Bard, who measures 1.73 metres.
“He is difficult to get past one-v-one, he is able to play under pressure, play the ball out… he has a real versatility, for three all three positions: LB, LWB, LCB,” he added in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
However, having qualified Nice for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, Bard may now be on his way out of the club. The France youth international has recently changed representatives and is attracting interest from the Premier League, according to Nice-Matin. The publication adds that Bard, alongside Evann Guessand, Hicham Boudaoui, Marcin Bulka, and Pablo Rosario, who are expected to leave Nice.
