Oh Campione – The Liverpool Song That Reflects Who We Are

Article image:Oh Campione – The Liverpool Song That Reflects Who We Are

Let’s be honest, the idea of Liverpool exceptionalism is a real thing. Scousers will often feel like they’re the best of the best when it comes to people and behaviours, largely because of the welcoming, left-wing views held by most and the desire to impress and entertain in equal measure. When it comes to Liverpool Football Club, that goes up another notch.

As Everton have failed to win a meaningful trophy since 1995, the Reds went on to win literally every trophy there was to win, becoming Premier League champions more than once and adding to our European Cup collection, so it’s little wonder there’s an arrogance about us.

A Song About Being Proud of Who We Are

That sense of pride and even arrogance is perhaps best summed up by the Oh Campione song, which makes reference to Liverpool being the ‘one and only’. The only thing to watch out for here is people singing ‘CHampione’, Anglicising the word rather than sticking with the Italian pronunciation of the word for ‘champion’. The same is true of the ‘Campione, campione, campione!’ chant, so watch out if you’re joining in with the singing of it. Here are the words to sing:

Oh campione

The one and only,

We’re Liverpool!

They say our days are numbered,

That we’re not famous anymore

But Scousers rule the country

Like we’ve always done before!

Oh campione!
