OL renews Athlético Sports Club partnership in Lebanon until 2029 | OneFootball

OL has relaunched its partnership with Beirut’s Athlético Sports Club after a brief pause, signing a renewed agreement running until 2029.

The club said in a statement that its first international tie-up, created in 2011 with the Beirut academy, is active again. The renewal was formalised on the sidelines of last Saturday’s Ligue 1 match against Stade Rennais, in the presence of chief executive Michael Gerlinger, sporting director Mathieu Louis-Jean, Athlético Liban founder and president Robert Paoli and Athlético president René Matta.

OL said the aim is to support football’s development in Lebanon by pairing OL Academy’s recognised expertise with detailed knowledge of the local ecosystem.

Exchanges between the two organisations will resume, including visits to Lyon by young players and Lebanese coaches, and training assignments in Beirut.

Young Lebanese players and their coaches may also attend camps or trials at OL’s academy, as happened in 2012 under then technical director Stéphane D’Urbano, a former OL coach who later became Athlético SC’s technical and sporting director.
