This summer could be the summer of happiness for Orlando Pirates and their fans after the management decided to enter the contract race.
Olarendo Pirates set to announce their ninth signing of the season
Orlando Pirates have made eight signings this week in preparation for the upcoming season, and on Wednesday, reports revealed that the South African club have managed to sign one more name to make it nine before the start of next week.
In a move that sent ripples across South African football, Orlando Pirates secured the surprise acquisition of midfielder Sipho Mbule this past Tuesday. The talented playmaker, previously with Mamelodi Sundowns, joined the Buccaneers as a free agent after his unexpected departure from the Tshwane giants.
What made the transfer particularly shocking was the widespread belief that Mbule was destined for Pirates' fierce rivals, Kaizer Chiefs. His agent, Mike Makaab, had openly confirmed discussions with Amakhosi, making the switch to Pirates even more unexpected.
This major signing coincided with Pirates supporters still adjusting to the arrival of their new head coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou. However, the club wasn’t done making headlines—just two days later, they unveiled a staggering seven new players in a single announcement. And the spending spree isn’t over yet, with reports indicating that Abdoulaye Mariko is en route to South Africa to finalize his move, potentially becoming the ninth addition to the squad.
The whirlwind of activity has firmly placed Pirates at the center of the football conversation, signaling their ambitious intentions for the upcoming season.
Reports have already revealed that Abdoulaye Mariko, an outstanding midfielder, has already been signed by Orlando Pirates to join the constellation of players who have recently joined the Buccaneers.
The 23-year-old is set to arrive at the Orlando Pirates soon in order to join the team for the preseason, and the player's deal will reportedly be a two-year contract with an option to renew.
