Celtic reached the Scottish Cup semi-finals after defeating rivals Rangers 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw at Ibrox, with the match ending in chaotic scenes as fans from both sides entered the pitch.

Neither team managed to find a goal during the 120 minutes, although Rangers controlled large parts of the game and created the more promising chances. Celtic, however, stayed compact and forced the tie into a penalty shootout.

Both sides had goals ruled out during the match. Daizen Maeda saw a header disallowed for offside, while Rangers were denied in extra time when Emmanuel Fernandez’s effort was ruled out for handball.

The shootout turned in Celtic’s favour early when Rangers captain James Tavernier struck the crossbar with the opening penalty. Djeidi Gassama later missed as well, sending his attempt over the bar.

Celtic kept their composure from the spot, and Tomas Cvancara converted the decisive penalty to secure their place in the semi-finals.

However, the final whistle was overshadowed by disorder as supporters from both clubs ran onto the pitch, forcing stewards and police to intervene.
