Manchester United have tried over the years to enhance the atmosphere at Old Trafford on matchdays.

Additional safe standing seats

The club’s official website has reported that, “Manchester United have begun work on a significant expansion of rail seating at Old Trafford, with 6,000 additional safe standing seats being installed in Tier 2 of the Stretford End.”

The project will double the current provision of safe-standing seats in an effort to improve the atmosphere and noise generated by home supporters.

TIFOs in Europe

Sadly Ruben Amorim’s side are not involved in Europe this year but during the quarter final and semi final of the Europa League last season, the club used Tifos for the first time.

Common across many European grounds, English teams have recently begun using them ahead of crunch European matches.

The players were inspired by the impressive Tifo designs ahead of the victories over Olympique Lyonnais and Athletic Club.

Flags

Against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, fans could notice an increased amount of supporters waving flags with messages of support for the players and club.

The Daily Mail report that the experiment paid off big time with everyone delighted with the impact, including the players.

The flag display “is organised and funded by The Red Army group and has been supported by the club. Confidential understands it has also been well received by the players, who are appreciative of the effort that has gone into it.”

The club is also said to be”delighted” with how it looks and they feel it has really helped the atmosphere at the famous old ground.

The report goes on to say that, “United, who amended the rules to allow flags with poles to be held up inside the stadium, have agreed to expand the area in which the flags are displayed following the first few home games of the season.”

The Red Devils have started the new season very well at home, winning four of their five opening home games in the league.
