Amelia Oldroyd says she couldn’t ask to be at a better club having signed her first professional deal with Manchester City.
The 19-year-old midfielder was a key figure in our Next Gen squad’s debut PGA Under-21 campaign last season after joining the Club from Manchester United in October 2025.
An energetic and technical midfielder, Oldroyd has also represented Scotland at various youth levels and was part of several City matchday squads in our triumphant 2025/26 WSL campaign.
And while the youngster is currently working hard on her recovery from a knee injury, she’s excited to see what the future holds with the Blues.
She said: “It’s amazing. It’s a dream come true. You couldn’t ask for a better club to be at.
“I can’t wait to get playing and I’m excited to see what comes next.
“It just shows the hard work and dedication you put in, you get a reward at the end.
“I’m really happy to do so [sign with City].”

Before her injury, Oldroyd had regularly stepped up into First Team training with her quality, effort and attitude impressing Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz and Director of Football Therese Sjogran.
The youngster was quick to credit her senior City team-mates in helping make that progression as smooth as possible, as well as thanking Jeglertz and Sjogran for giving her the opportunity to showcase her talents.
Speaking about those conversations, she said: “It was quite surreal to be fair. They [Jeglertz and Sjogran] mentioned that during training with the First Team, I’ve proven myself, so they’ve been nothing but amazing with me.
“Being in that environment and with girls was unbelievable. They’re all lovely girls to be with.
“There’s a few to be fair [who’ve helped me]. Viv [Miedema], Alex [Greenwood], they all hold themselves so well.
“They’re role models to look up to on and off the pitch and they care about you as a person as well as a player which is nice to be around.”
