Manchester City are delighted to announce that Amelia Oldroyd has signed her first professional contract with the Club.

A dynamic and combative midfielder, the 19-year-old joined City from Manchester United in October 2025, and her impressive development has seen her rise through the ranks to become a regular feature in our Women’s First Team set-up.

Indeed, although she’s yet to make her senior debut, Amelia was included in matchday squads for WSL matches with Liverpool, West Ham, Everton and Manchester United as well as a trip to Newcastle in the League Cup last term.

A Scotland Under-19s international, Oldroyd was a key player for our Next Gen side in 2025/26, with her sparkling displays from midfield helping earn a fifth-placed finish in our first-ever PGA Under-21 season.

After signing her first professional contract, Oldroyd said: “It’s unbelievable, as a child you always dream of this day. It just shows the hard work and dedication you put in, you get a reward at the end. I’m really happy to do so.

“It’s amazing. It’s a dream come true, you couldn’t ask for a better club to be at, and I can’t wait to get playing and I’m excited to see what comes next.”

Director of Football Therese Sjogran added: “We are really pleased to see Amelia sign her first professional contract with us.

“This is a really special moment for her and the Club and one she deserves after the hard work she’s put in since arriving at City.

“Her dedication has been clear to see during her rehabilitation from an injury and we’re all excited to see her back on the pitch for the next chapter in her career which will no doubt be bright.

“I’d like to also pass on my thanks and congratulations to our Head of Girls’ Academy Hannah Dingley, Lead Coach Izzy Christiansen and everyone involved in our Next Gen setup for their role in Amelia’s development to this point, too.”

Everyone at City would like to congratulate Amelia on signing her first professional contract with the Club.
