Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise is attracting interest across Europe with his performances. Now, France’s national team coach Didier Deschamps has spoken out about the 24-year-old’s future, using clear and direct language.
In just two seasons at Säbener Straße, Olise has become one of the most sought-after attacking players in the world. His market value has climbed to around 150 million euros—and Olise is drawing interest even outside of Munich. Real Madrid, in particular, is said to be hoping to sign the Frenchman.
The record champions consider their dribbler to be untouchable. Olise’s contract in Munich runs through 2029. However, should he put on a stellar performance at the upcoming World Cup, interest from top clubs is unlikely to wane.
Now, Olise’s French national team coach, Didier Deschamps, has spoken out. In an interview with Sport BILD, the French national team coach can’t stop praising Olise and highlights the progress his protégé has made.
“Michael Olise has made incredible progress. With us on the French national team, it was a bit difficult and challenging at first. But with perseverance and support, he has developed,” said Deschamps. Olise has since become an indispensable part of the Équipe Tricolore’s starting lineup; the team is among the top favorites to win the title and kicked off the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Senegal.

The coach fully understands why FC Bayern wants to keep its attacking player. Even with Vincent Kompany in mind, Deschamps wouldn’t necessarily advise his player to make a move: “Coach Vincent Kompany has also played a huge role in Michael’s remarkable rise. He’s had an outstanding season under him, showing efficiency, character, and personality. He’ll continue to be very good if he stays at FC Bayern.”
Deschamps also explains why the Frenchman feels so at home at Säbener Straße: “Today, Michael is one of the best players in the world, but media attention isn’t his thing. What matters to him is the field; after that, he wants to live his own life.”
No specific negotiations or offers are currently known. For now, Olise’s focus is on the World Cup anyway, where he can prove himself as one of France’s top stars. At FC Bayern, the hope is that his strong first two years will be followed by many more.
