Oliver Baumann responds to Bayern links

Oliver Baumann has addressed speculation linking him with Bayern Munich, speaking after Hoffenheim’s 1-2 defeat to Mainz on Saturday. The Germany goalkeeper appeared surprised by the talk.

"Oh wow, I haven’t thought about that at all. I’ll do that at some point – or maybe not," he said, speaking to Bild.

Last month, a report said Bayern were considering Baumann as a possible successor to Manuel Neuer if the 40-year-old retires this summer. The plan outlined was to sign him as experienced back-up to Jonas Urbig, who is lined up to become No. 1.

Hoffenheim coach Christian Ilzer was also asked about the links. "No idea. You (Bild) reveal a lot, the agents do their part. It all goes past me. We are focused on the last games," he said.

Baumann is under contract with Hoffenheim until 2028.
