Oliver Glasner has defended his right to rotate Crystal Palace’s line-up against Manchester City and Arsenal during the Premier League run-in.
NY Times reports that Palace visit City at the Etihad Stadium on May 13, then host leaders Arsenal on May 24, the season’s final day, three days before the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano at Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena on May 27.
The manager said any criticism of rotation would be “nonsense” and argued the title is earned over 38 matchdays, noting other teams’ selections across the season also affect the race. He stressed he is paid to do what is best for Palace.
Glasner added he has not yet decided whether to rest players before the final, saying he could even pick the same team that faces Rayo.
Arsenal are five points clear, having played one game more than City.
City still host Brentford on Saturday, travel to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth on May 19, three days after the FA Cup final, then finish at home to Aston Villa.
Arsenal visit West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday, host Burnley on May 18, then conclude against Palace, before meeting Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on May 30.
Palace secured their place with a 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday.
