Oliver Glasner says Crystal Palace will rotate heavily between KuPS and Leeds United next week, citing player welfare amid a gruelling schedule.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds host Palace at Elland Road next Saturday, the visitors' fourth match in 10 days. Glasner's side play Shelbourne tonight in the Europa Conference League, then visit Manchester City on Sunday.
KuPS come to Selhurst Park seven days from now. Palace asked to move the Elland Road date from Sunday to Saturday due to a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Arsenal on Tuesday, leaving only 48 hours between KuPS and Leeds.
Wing-back Daniel Munoz has had knee surgery and only 15 senior players are available. Ismaila Sarr is out with an ankle injury and top scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta has been managing a knee problem.
Glasner said he will not start any player on both Thursday and Saturday, adding he feels responsible for their welfare. He suggested resting 10 or 12 for KuPS would be easier if they win first. For now, a stronger line-up at Elland Road appears likelier, though tonight's result could shift priorities.
Two league-phase games remain in Europe and an inconsistent campaign means Palace need results. The new format sends the top 8 through automatically, with teams in positions 9 to 24 entering a February play-off.
Palace are 18th, so anything but victory at Shelbourne could leave them needing a home win over KuPS. Glasner said the priority is qualification now, with February's play-off a distant concern.
