Olivier Bramly has been chosen to replace Nicolas de Tavernost as chief executive of LFP Media after months of searching. The 51-year-old media specialist is currently based in the Middle East.

According to L'Équipe, his appointment was approved last Tuesday after a selection process involving Vincent Labrune, club presidents Olivier Létang, Marc Keller and Waldemar Kita, and representatives of CVC, the fund that invested one and a half billion euros in French football for 13% of LFP Media. The final decision was unanimous, although differing views emerged during the process.

Bramly’s contract with LFP Media is to be finalised, with his start planned to follow. His immediate brief includes distribution of Ligue 1+, the platform that now holds exclusive rights to Ligue 1 and Ligue 3 matches worldwide. He will also consider the next phase.

He has taken senior roles in media and streaming in the Middle East, after earlier posts in Europe, notably at Eurosport from 1999. At Eurosport he worked in Spain, then in international roles.

In 2015 he became managing director of Fox International Channels for France and the French speaking territories of Belgium, Switzerland and Africa. After Fox was integrated into The Walt Disney Company, he held leadership roles at Disney, particularly in pay TV and distribution in Europe, before moving his career towards the Middle East.

De Tavernost announced in February that he would leave the role, and he has since joined Stade Rennais as chairman of the club’s board.
