Toulouse president Olivier Cloarec says the new head coach is set to be appointed before 10 June, the opening of the summer window, following Carles Martinez Novell’s exit, barring any late hitch.
According to L'Équipe, Toulouse’s campaign ended on a sour note in Nantes, where play was halted in the 22nd minute after a pitch invasion. A disciplinary commission will decide the outcome on 27 May.
He said preparations had been made and the club are not being forced into reactive decisions. He spoke alongside sporting director Viktor Bezhani at an end-of-season briefing.
Bezhani explained a shortlist of French and foreign candidates has been drawn up, interviews have been held and the process is in its final stage.
Names linked in the media include Olivier Pantaloni, on his way out of Lorient, Christophe Pélissier of Auxerre, and Dane Jens Berthel Askou, manager of Scottish side Motherwell.
Toulouse finished 10th in Ligue 1, and could be reclassified 9th if a win or a draw is awarded by forfeit. Cloarec noted that would be their best finish since RedBird took ownership, in a season that also featured a Coupe de France semi-final loss, 4-1 at Lens.
The hierarchy expect an active window with several out-of-contract departures, and hope to keep their academy graduates for longer than in recent years.
